„Strategic vision
– military challenge“ educational seminar organized by the National
Security Course took place in the Armed Forces Academy of General Milan
Rastislav Štefánik in Liptovský Mikuláš on October 23, 2008 attended by
the students of General Staff Course from the Strategic and Defence Studies,
Defence University in Brno (Czech Republic). Foreign participants were
welcomed by Brig. Gen. Assoc. Prof. Dipl. Eng. Miroslav Kelemen, Ph.D.,
rector of the Armed Forces Academy who acquainted them with the mission
and goals of the Academy.
There are 7 Czech and 1 Latvian Armed Forces military professionals (5 Colonels and 3 Lieutenant Colonels) attending the 22nd run of General Staff Course at Defence University in Brno. Ten months is a duration of the Czech General Staff Course, the same as the one of Slovak National Security Course. The aim of the course is to educate and train future top managers highly qualified in areas as follows: security and defence policy, armed forces and society, conception of the armed forces, military strategy and the art of war, military English terminology.
Joint educational seminar for the students of the National Security Course, as the highest level of education within the Armed Forces of the Slovak Republic, and the participants from Czech General Staff Course included the presentations on topical issues such as strategic and military environment prognosis, future operations, conceptions and armed forces capability. Participants analysed the factors affecting the strategic environment focusing on ethnic conflicts, political and religious ideologies, military consequences and crisis avoidance, conventional forces, intelligence and HQ structures.
