The workshop organized from
02 July to 04 July 2013 at the Armed Forces Academy of General Milan Rastislav
Štefánik in Liptovský Mikuláš confirmed our closer cooperation with the
German Armed Forces. Main idea how to organize this kind of activity was
based on negotiations and agreements made by Rector Brigadier General
Boris Ďurkech and the highest representatives of the Command and Staff
College in Hamburg (Führungsakademie der Bundeswehr).
The aim of the workshop was to promote the understanding
of the challenges encountered when devising a comprehensive approach of
support for international peace operations. The approaches applied by
selected different countries and actors (Military, Civilian, Development
and Humanitarian) showed to the workshop participants the complementarity
of efforts in conflict resolution.
During the workshop participants from the governmental
and non-governmental organizations of 7 different countries Germany, Slovakia,
Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyz Republic, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan tried
to enhance the knowledge and understanding of the different comprehensive
approaches to open new avenues for collaboration and cooperation.
German participants were represented by Mrs. Angelika
Brunkhorst (member of the national Parliament of the Federal Republic
of Germany) Brigadier General Karl H. Schreiner and Lieutenant Colonel
(GS) Klaus Huetteker (members of the Command and Staff College in Hamburg).
The representatives from the Ministry of Defence
and the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic
Mr. Mario Nicolini and Mr. Martin Bielik actively participated during
the workshop as well.
All possible areas for further discussions were
identified and summarized at the end of the workshop with the promises
to find consensus in the future.
