The opening ceremony of the
International Staff Officers' Course (ISOC 15) was held on 21 September
2015 at the premises of the Armed Forces Academy in Liptovský Mikuláš.
The ceremony was attended by Vice Rector for Education Assoc. Prof. Dipl.
Eng. Jozef Puttera, CSc., Vice Rector for Science Assoc. Prof. Dipl. Eng.
Marcel Harakaľ, PhD., Director of The Professional Military Education
Centre Colonel Tomáš Novotný, PhD., and Commandant of the International
Staff Officers’ Course Lieutenant Colonel Jozef Wesselényi.
16 officers in ranks of Captain and Major from
Afghanistan, Azerbaijan, Czech Republic, Georgia, Moldova, and Slovakia
were nominated into the course. The students from Afghanistan and Georgia
are taking part in the course within Defence Education Enhancement Program
(DEEP), in which the Armed Forces Academy has been engaged since 2013.
The course is aimed at developing the theoretical
knowledge in the area of operational planning defensive and offensive
operations, as well as at enhancing their capabilities in order to be
able to work in the multinational environment.
The ISOC 15 will finish on 26 November 2015.
