The International Staff Officers' Course (ISOC 19) was officially opened by introductory presentation done by vice-rector for education Assoc. professor Peter Spilý, PhD on 17 September 2018 in the Armed Forces Academy in Liptovský Mikuláš. LTC Jozef Wesselényi, Ph.D (ISOC Commander) did next presentation about the mission, structure and tasks of Armed Forces Academy and ISOC.
18 officers in ranks from Lieutenant up to Captain from Czech Republic, Georgia, Slovakia, State of Qatar and Ukraine are attending ISOC 19.
The course is reflecting the military requirement for a standardization on the tactical level planning process in NATO. The aim of the course is to enable the students to master the planning and conducting of military operations in English in accordance with NATO standards throughout the full spectrum of conflicts in multinational environment.
Student will acquire advance knowledge on military terminology, army capabilities, NATO military symbology and military doctrine during first 3 weeks. This knowledge is critical for future planning sessions and successful graduation from the course and as the first step for interoperability in the multinational deployments.
The ISOC 19 will finish on 16 November 2018.
