International Staff Officers’s Course (ISOC) 23 was officially opened by introductory presentation done by LTC Roman KRÁĽ (Chief of the International courses department), on 21st of September, 2020 in the Armed Forces Academy in Liptovský Mikuláš, where he presented the mission, structure and tasks of Armed Forces Academy and ISOC.
12 officers in ranks from captain to major from Slovak republik and one captain from National Gueard Indiana are attending ISOC 23. Due to the unfavorable epidemiological situation, students from the Czech Republic, South Korea and Ukraine could not attend the course this time.
In the first week students expanded their english language skills and improved communication and knowledge of military terminology. In the next week they will became familiar with the use of units of different specializations and services as well as with the organizational structures of individual combat units of the land forces. Later they will acquire necessary information and skills needed for the military decision-making process.
On 19th of October students from the Czech Republic and Latvia from the previous ISOC 22 course, which was prematurely terminated in March 2020, will join this course.
During the lectures and excercises they will together prepare themselves for joint action at all stages of preparation and planning at the tactical level and they will be able to plan and conduct military operations in English language in accordance with NATO standards across the whole spectrum of conflicts in the international environment.
Course completion is scheduled for November the 20th, 2020.
